The Watch

The Aquastar 63 is a legend, it’s one of the earliest dive watches to be rated past 200 meters and to feature an internal bezel. Founded in Geneva in 1962 as a sub brand of Jean-Richard, the Aquastar name came with a self explanatory use: watches to be used in and around water.

The 63 was released in the mid-1960s and was marketed towards serious divers with its 200 meter/600 feet depth rating. This model was seen as one of the best divers you could find in the 1960s, thanks to its impressive water resistance and inner rotating bezel activated directly by the crown. The crown was also used to wind the watch, so if you wanted to both wind the watch and set the bezel, you would need to wind it first and then set.

Because of the desirability, these models were sold in specialized dive shops. Priced lower than Rolex and Tudor, the 63 became a bestseller and was known for its practicality. Due to this popularity and being budget friendly, it has become hard to find a 63 that has not been worn to death, so when good honest examples like this crop up we always recommend snapping it up!

Getting Acquainted

Bits that stand out:
- Hard to find in good nick.
- Dial is in Superb Order.
- Inner Rotating Bezel.
- Iconic Model.
-Very possibly all Original (bar strap).

Nitty Gritty:
-Handful of dings around the case, nothing to worry about, nature of the beast!
- There is some clouding under the Original Crystal by the 50 mark of the inner Bezel, we left it as is, as it's not major and not worth the risk of cracking the original Crystal.

Overall the 63 is in nice honest used condition.
The Handset is Original.
The Dial is in lovely condition.
Dial lume is original Tritium and has darkened over the years. Hand lume lovely.
Crystal is very possibly original.
