The Rolex Air-King is often forgotten among more popular Rolex collections such as the Submariner, Daytona, or even the Datejust, released the same year as the Air-King (1945).
The Air-King continues to offer an interesting value proposition, especially for vintage value seekers out there, as it’s one of the few vintage Rolex models that still costs less than the average car, but how long for? As one of Rolex’s longest running models, the Air-King is a watch worthy of your attention. The Air King Date ref. 5700 was first introduced in 1958 and the Air King line has continued to go from strength to strength.
Over the years, a number of famous people have been spotted wearing an Air-King of various vintages: Ryan Gosling has been spotted wearing a vintage Air-King, even wearing it when he won best actor for his performance in La La Land. John McCain was also known for wearing an Air-King for much of his political career.

Dating this Watch
Using the Serial numbers in between the lugs, we can date this Rolex to Circa 1967. Using the date stamp inside the case back which is "I 67" we can date this the first quarter of 1967.

The Dial is in a condition, that is highly sought after by collectors, unmolested and unrestored this fantastic Original factory Dial has aged beautifully over the years There are a few minor marks to the dial close to the hands but nothing offensive at all.
It is lovely to see a Original, unmolested Rolex dial as they seem to be prime targets for the Re-Dialing monsters.
This is the original Untouched Vintage Dial and a very nice one at that.

Case
Top Quality Rolex Oyster Stainless Steel Case.
The very well proportioned 34.6mm case, this case wears beautifully and somewhat larger beyond its 34.6mm measurement on the Wrist.
It displays a real presence and its fair to call this one a head turner.
The Case is in fantastic condition for its age with no real marks to write home about at all bar a few age related scratches, which are barely worth mentioning, in this 54 year old timepiece. The Case has undergone a very light buff & polish to bring some life back into it.

This Case was rated Water resistant back in the Day, it is now a Vintage Timepiece, it has NOT been tested for Water Resistance and if you wish to Submerge this Watch, you will need to have the Watch Professionally Resealed before doing so!!
Hands, Crystal and Crown
Original Hands are in very good order.
The Crystal has been changed during Service, we have replaced it with a Bubble Crystal so it's as close to the Original you can get.
Original signed Rolex, screw down Crown, the Crown has had a Gasket change and it screws tightly to the Pendant Tube, which has also had a Gasket change. The Crown screws nicely to the case.
Bracelet
On its Original 7835 Rolex Oyster Bracelet with 19mm 357 end links.
The bracelet is in super order for such a vintage. it has undergone a light buff & polish as part of the Service.
