Jaeger-LeCoultre was born from the partnership between Edmond Jaeger and Jacques David LeCoultre. It wasn’t until 1937 that the names Jaeger and LeCoultre appeared together for the very first time on the same dial. Nevertheless, "Jaeger" only watches don't fully disappear after 1937. Actually you'll see watches and mechanical instruments with the Jaeger signature well into the 1980s, Chronograph watches were most prevalent for the "Jaeger" signature until the 1950s, due to brand awareness.
.
Today's example is a rare Jaeger branded Chronograph, dating from the 1940s. This watch was manufactured by Universal Geneve for JLC. JLC, despite being a famous watch manufacturer did not develop chronograph movements until the 1990s. In order to have chronographs in their range, they relied mainly on Universal Geneve, for the production. The Dial and Movement are marked Fab.Suisse.
